Research Summary of Luma Congmin (Britemind Elder )Capsules
Chinese Uses: senile dementia, alzheimer's disease, presenility (premature aging) and hypomnesia (failing memory)
Modern studies on pharmacologic action prove that Luma Congmin Capsule yields the following actions:
Anti-aging
- It remarkably prolongs both mean and maximum life span of bombyx pomace fly, which indicates that it has the effects of anti-aging.
- It reduces the peroxidated lipid in the blood plasma, liver and brain of mice, and improves the activity of SOD in the liver and brain.
- It reduces the content of lipofuscin, inhibits remarkably its formation in the heart, liver and kidney of rat, resulting in its decreasing content, especially in the axoneure.
Improvement on dysmnesis
- Apply with the jumping stand method to observe: this product improves acquired dysmnesia induced by Pentobarbital with 20mg/kg and alleviates reproduced dysmnesia caused by 30% alcohol. It significantly prolongs the staying time of mice on the jumping stand and decreases error times within 5 min.
- Apply with water maze method to observe, this product improves acquired and reproduced dysmnesia induced by Pentobarbital and 30% alcohol.
Sedation
- It significantly prolongs the sleep time of mice induced by Pentobarbital.
Studies on toxicology
Maximum dose of 40g/kg of Cong Min Granule was administrated to mice once, and no death or toxicosis was found.
Clinically, this product is commonly used in senile dementia, presenility (premature aging, ed) and hypomnesia (failing memory)
1. 58 cases with senile dementia were administrated with this product, 2 capsules 3 times a day, and continued for one month. One capsule was added for severe cases in the morning and evening, respectively. According to statistics, the total effective rate was 86.21%, including 14 cases basically recovered (24.14%), 21 cases remarkably improved (36.21%), 15 cases improved (25.86%), and 8 cases ineffective (86.21%).
2. 72 cases with presenility (premature aging, ed) and hypomnesia (failing memory, ed) were administrated with this product, 2 capsules 3 times a day, and continued for one month. One capsule was added for severe cases in the morning and evening respectively. According to statistics, the total effective rate was 86.11%, including 16 cases basically recovered (22.22%), 26 cases remarkably improved (36.11%), 20 cases improved (27.78%), and 10 cases ineffective (13.89%).
