Studies on Luma Yushen (NephroEase) Chinese Uses: Kidney disfunctions, kidney failure, low fertility, lowering urine proteine Modern studies on pharmacologic action prove that Luma Yushen (NephroEase) Capsule yields the following actions: 1. Enhancement on immunological function 1.1 Yang deficiency mice model with decreased immunological function was made by hydrocortisone. And Yu Shen Capsule can antagonize the action exerted on lymphocyte by hydrocortisone, and has a slight effect on T lymphocytes, which indicates that this product can improve and adjust B lymphocyte function to enhance humoral immunity. 1.2 It can significantly increase the decreased amount of total peritoneal cells, type I cells (lymphocytes), type II cells (immature macrophages) and type III cells (macrophages). 2. Adjustment on content of sex hormones 2.1 It can increase the content of the testosterone with a decreased of that in the blood serum of male patients with yang deficiency, and decrease the content of the estradiol with an increased of that to normal level. 2.2 It does not have obvious effect on the testosterone in the blood serum of female with insufficiency of kidney-yang, but can increase the decreased estradiol. It indicates that this product has a different mechanism of action from exogenous sex hormone, and it mainly improves the function of body, and recovers the normal secretion of hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal system. 3. Anti-aging 3.1 It can decrease the activity of MAO in the brain of experiment mice in elder group to the level of the young. 3.2 It can decrease the hydroxyproline in the kidney of the elder mice, and decrease that in the heart of the elder mice to the level of middle-age. And it can decrease urine protein of the elder mice to that of the young as well. 4. Adjustment on plasma renin activity and content of aldosterone The plasma renin activity and content of aldosterone decrease with the increased month of the rat. Yu Shen Capsule can greatly improve the plasma renin activity and slightly increase the content of aldosterone. Studies on toxicology Decoction of Yu Shen Capsule was administrated to mice in the dose of 150 times of human dose, two times per day. Observe for 7 days and no cases were found dead and abnormal. Clinically, this product is commonly used to treat infertility due to reduced sperms, and sexual hypofunction and prospermia. 1. 32 cases with infertility due to reduced sperms were administrated with this product, 4 capsules per time and 3 times per day, for continuous 2 months. According to the statistics, there were 27 cases who had recovered reproductive ability, which shared a rate of 84.37%. 2. 56 cases with sexual hypofunction were administrated with this product, 4 capsules per time and 3 times per day, for continuous 2 months. According to the statistics, the total effective rate was 83.93%, including 4 cases of substantially recovered at the rate of 7.41%, 20 cases of remarkably improved at the rate of 35.72%, 23 cases of improved at the rate of 41.07%, and 9 cases of ineffective at the rate of 16.07%. 3. 43 cases with prospermia were administrated with this product, 4 capsules per time and 3 times per day, for continuous 2 months. According to the statistics, the total effective rate was 81.40%, including 3 cases of substantially recovered at the rate of 6.98%, 15 cases of remarkably improved at the rate of 34.88%, 17 cases of improved at the rate of 39.54%, and 8 cases of ineffective at the rate of 18.60%.
