Chinese herbal formulas were once produced entirely as warm teas. These concoctions were often difficult to prepare - with a smell and taste unappetizing to most people. With this in mind, the Chinese began to produce the common "teapill", essentially concentrated active herbal tea in a pill form, which has proven very popular in both China and western countries. Most of the formulas offered by Chinese Herbs Direct are in this teapill format.
While most of our formulas are offered as teapills or capsules due to ease of use and/or taste considerations, we do offer a handful of formulas in traditional tea form. These teas do not require special preparation like the teas of old; rather they steep in a cup of hot water similar to regular tea. In addition, these teas tend to have ingredients in them which result in a pleasant-tasting beverage. Many Chinese still consume the bulk of their herbs in tea form because they believe it enhances the body's assimilation of the herbal ingredients.
