Coltalin-DM Cold & Cough Formula is effective at relieving many of the symptoms that are related to the common cold. Some of these include hay fever, respiratory allergies, sore throat, runny nose, body aches, watery eyes and nasal congestion.

Suggested Use

For adults and children who are 12 years of age and older: Take 2 tablets every 4 hours while you have symptoms persist, not to exceed 6 doses (12 tablets) in 24 hours, or as directed by a doctor.

Children who are 6-11 years of age: Take 1 tablet every 4 hours while you have symptoms persist, not to exceed 5 doses (5 tablets) in 24 hours, or as directed by a doctor.

Children under 6 years of age: Consult with a doctor.

Safety

Do not use for more than 10 days (for adults) or 5 days (for children).

Do not use if you are now taking a prescription monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) (a type of drug for depression, psychiatric or emotional conditions, or Parkinson's disease), or for 2 weeks after stopping an MAOI drug.

Ask a doctor before use if you have:

  • glaucoma, heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, thyroid disease, high fever, a breathing problem such as emphysema or chronic bronchitis, or difficulty urinating due to an enlarged prostate gland.

Ask a doctor or pharmacist before you use if you are taking sedatives or tranquilizers or if you don't know if your prescription drug contains an MAOI.

When using this product:

  • Do not exceed recommended dosage.
  • May cause excitability, especially in children.
  • May cause drowsiness (alcohol, sedatives, and tranquilizers may increase this effect).
  • Avoid alcoholic beverages.
  • Use caution when driving a motor vehicle or operating machinery.

Stop use and ask a doctor if:

  • Symptoms do not improve.
  • Symptoms are accompanied by fever that lasts more than 3 days.
  • You experience nervousness, dizziness, sleeplessness, or new symptoms.
  • You have a severe sore throat or one that lasts for more than 2 days.
  • Symptoms are accompanied or followed by fever, headache, rash, nausea, or vomiting.

In case of overdose, get medical help or contact a Poison Control Center right away. Prompt medical attention is critical for adults as well as for children, even if you do not notice any signs or symptoms.

Alcohol Warning: If you consume 3 or more alcoholic drinks every day, ask your doctor whether you should take acetaminophen or other pain relievers/fever reducers. Acetaminophen may cause liver damage.
