This product is sold in 5:1 CONCENTRATED EXTRACT GRANULES form.

The net weight of the Extract Granules is listed with the herb name. Each gram of 5:1 Concentrated Extract Granules is equivalent to approximately 5 grams of raw herb powder (i.e. a 100 gram bottle of 5:1 Concentrated Extract Granules would be equivalent to 500 grams of Herb Powder).

Treasure of the East’s herbal extracts are full-spectrum, water-based extracts produced by Tianjiang Pharmaceutical. Unlike standardized extracts, which contain a concentrated quantity of a single marker chemical, full-spectrum herbal extracts contain all the active chemical constituents of whole herbs in concentrated form. Treasure of the East herbs are full-spectrum and extracted using only purified water.

Concentrated Chinese herbs are the extracts made from the water decoction of bulk herbs, concentrated at a low pressure and low temperature, and then instantly dried. Compared to bulk herbs, which must be boiled in water for long periods of time, concentrated herbs may be quickly and easily prepared and administered.

Please note that 5:1 CONCENTRATED EXTRACT GRANULES consist of the concentrated extract granules only, and are not further processed into tabs, caps, or formulas. 5:1 Concentrated Extract Granules DO NOT include usage information, as they are intended for professional herbalists and those customers who have the experience and knowledge necessary to safely prepare their own formulas.

About Single Herbs

Single Herb Ordering Guidelines

  • Chinese Herbs Direct offers Single Raw Herbs in three forms: WHOLE HERBS - consisting of the actual whole, single, raw herb (i.e. fruit, stem, root, flower, mineral, etc.), HERBAL POWDERS - consisting of single raw herbs ground into a powder, 5:1 CONCENTRATED EXTRACT GRANULES - consisting of concentrated extract granules, and 5:1 CONCENTRATED EXTRACT POWDERS - consisting of whole single herbs and herbal formulas processed into a powder extract that is 5 times more concentrated than raw Herbal Powder.
  • Whole Herbs, Herbal Powders, 5:1 Concentrated Extract Granules and 5:1 Concentrated Extract Powders are offered as a convenience for professional herbalists and those customers who have the experience and knowledge necessary to safely prepare their own formulas. For the vast majority of our customers, we recommend you choose one of our hundreds of prepackaged, traditional formulas available in tabs, caps or teas rather than preparing your own formula using raw herbs. You can search for every formula in our store which contains a particular herb by using our Search Tool. For best results, if the herb name consists of more than one word, you should enclose the entire herb name in quotes when using the Search Tool.
  • Unlike the prepared formulas, tabs and teas we sell, our Single Herb products (Whole Herbs, Herbal Powders, 5:1 Concentrated Extract Granules, and 5:1 Concentrated Extract Powders) DO NOT include usage information. Chinese Herbs Direct is unable to provide any guidance on the preparation, usage or usage of Whole Herbs, Herbal Powders, 5:1 Concentrated Extract Granules, and 5:1 Concentrated Extract Powders. For any questions on these items, we ask that you consult a licensed herbalist or health care provider BEFORE you place your order.
  • In order to offer the freshest raw herbs possible, we do not maintain a regular inventory of most Whole Herbs, Herbal Powders, 5:1 Concentrated Extract Granules, and 5:1 Concentrated Extract Powders in our warehouse. You should therefore expect to wait an additional 5-7 days (beyond normal delivery times) for your order to be shipped. Available products are updated regularly, but occasionally we may be out of stock of a raw herb product - in which case we will notify you and issue a corresponding credit to your account.
  • Whole Herbs, Herbal Powders, 5:1 Concentrated Extract Granules, and 5:1 Concentrated Extract Powders are guaranteed to be fresh and of the highest quality available. However, due to the specialized nature of these Single Raw Herbs, we are unable to offer our normal guarantee beyond freshness and quality. We will be unable to guarantee refunds for this specific line of products due to ordering the wrong herb, changing your mind, etc.

Herb Quality

  • Quality Seeds. High-quality herbal extracts require high-quality seeds. Tianjiang has long partnered with China Pharmaceutical University's Department of Genetics and Breeding to identify and cultivate seeds that are not only authentic, but represent the best specimens of each botanical species Seedlings at Tianjiang
  • High-Quality Seeds and Geo-Authentic Sourcing: Tianjiang collaborates with China Pharmaceutical University to cultivate top-quality, authentic seeds, with about 95% of their herbs sourced from traditional Dao Di regions, ensuring high standards of sustainability and quality.
  • Direct Farm Partnerships and Freshness: The company sources herbs directly from over 300 farms across 22 provinces, including owning/co-owning 100 farms that comply with WHO's GACP, enabling them to produce herbal extracts with optimal freshness and efficacy.

Shelf Life and Freshness

The single herbs are made from the same type of granule extracts as the formulas and have similar shelf-life characteristics. The company uses an internal shelf life of five years after manufacturing, with stability studies showing no significant degradation when stored properly for six years.

To maintain the freshness of the single herb granules, the manufacturer uses high-quality bottles and patented packaging and sealing technology designed for pharmaceutical-grade medicinal herbs. The company also takes measures to protect the extracts from temperature fluctuations and direct sunlight to further prolong their freshness and potency.
